A/Prof Sydney Ch'ng convened the Surgery for Facial Aesthetics Conference in Melbourne, 16-18 August 2024, on behalf of The Australian Society of Plastic Surgeons.
As Dr Ch’ng’s head and neck surgery practice is increasingly complemented with facial aesthetic surgery cases, she looks to expand her horizons in this sphere. Her years of experience in complex head and neck resection and reconstruction, and familiarity with facial anatomy allow for a natural progression in this direction.
Dr Ch’ng convened the Surgery for Facial Aesthetics Conference on behalf of The Australian Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS) in Melbourne, 16 – 18 August 2024. The two-day conference was preceded by a full-day cadaver dissection course. She hosted world-renowned Plastic Surgeons, Drs Francisco Bravo (Madrid), Chin-Ho Wong (Singapore) and Marc Mani (Beverly Hills) as international faculty. Feedback for the course and conference was excellent – the international faculty could not have been better with Dr Wong presenting the deep plane facelift approach with extraordinary clarity and precision, Dr Bravo demonstrating the deep plane neck lift with amazing finesse, and Dr Mani showcasing his cutting-edge endoscopic facelift technique. On top of that the creative originality of the dynamic trio, reinforced with artistic and mechanical thinking was palpable as they lectured on their approach to facial rejuvenation. Dr Bryan Mendelson AM featured as one of the esteemed local faculty members, and aptly summed up the conference with Marvin Minsky’s quote, “If you understand something in only one way, then you don’t really understand it at all.”
The Gala Dinner was held at Vue de Monde, perched on the 55th floor of the Rialto Tower. It was opulent yet intimate. Dr Ch’ng thanked her international speakers at the dinner with a speech punctuated by scores from Writing's on the Wall, Material Girl, and Mission Impossible played on keyboard.
